Job Summary


This position is for individuals seeking an experience that will involve applying engineering and lean principles to improve product flow through four different types of responsibilities: technical support for factory test, test flow improvement (cost reduction), test capacity analysis, and supporting part/product transitions. If selected, the employee will become familiar with Rockwell Collins' products, our manufacturing objectives, our test philosophy, and our state of the art manufacturing techniques.


Our team is seeking a self-motivated engineer with strong decision making and problem solving skills in support of either 2 nd or 3 rd shift production/test teams. Our team is dedicated to providing a very high level of technical support to improve manufacturing flow while keeping a laser focus on our excellent quality. This position will play a key role in making our manufacturing test processes more efficient and repeatable through test data analysis and yield improvement initiatives. Job Responsibilities


+ Provide technical assistance to factory test technicians for all levels of testing.

+ Provide technical interpretation of drawings and specifications for complex products.

+ Evaluate Customer Returned Good (CRG) activity to repair and return units in the most efficient manner. Use analysis of CRG failure data to identify methods of preventing future failures.

+ Develops working knowledge of difficult test systems

+ Executes/Supervises Preventative Maintenance activity on Test Equipment

+ Maintain control over Engineering Support costs to Manufacturing.


+ Recommend and/or lead producibility projects to reduce support costs.

+ Analyze product tolerances, part specifications, and test specifications to determine root cause of test yield drivers.

+ Determine optimal test flow for efficient flow of products through test while considering cost constraints.

+ Analyze test failures and defect trends and driving to root causes and corrective actions, prepares failure analysis reports as required for production.

+ Provide analysis and disposition of nonconforming parts and products.

+ Work with Design Engineering to resolve design margin issues and any issues driving change to the product. May include initiation of Engineering Change Orders to revise documentation.

+ Study test equipment performance and reliability and work with MEE team to establish solutions for decreasing equipment downtime. Provide feedback to improve design of next generation test equipment.

+ Develop validation plans for the new test equipment.

+ Collaborate with Application Engineering and/or Supply Chain to resolve piece-part problems that inhibit flow.

+ Analyze test approach, plans, and processes for cost reduction opportunities.

+ Collaborate with Design Engineering on product respins due to cost reduction opportunities and determine the appropriate test plans.

+ Support Lean/Six Sigma initiatives.

+ Capacity planning and utilization analysis for accurate staffing and test equipment needs.

+ Assist Manufacturing Management in determining appropriate technician assignments based on necessary skills.


+ Determine suitable replacement part and test plan to ensure there is zero customer impact during part/product transition due to obsolescence and cost reduction initiatives.

+ Supports producibility and testability initiatives in new designs and developments.

+ Assist in development and implementation of test procedures for new products.

+ Participate in reviews to determine readiness of new designs for production.

+ Liaison between Manufacturing and Design Engineering during the transition to ensure a smooth transition into production.

+ Collaborating with Test Technicians to train them on new products and test systems.




Basic Qualifications


Bachelor's degree in appropriate discipline or in the absence of a degree six years of related experience


US Citizenship or Permanent Residence is required. Candidateds must have exp with documentation and process - trouble shooting electronic assemblies
